In today’s post, I’d like to share my favorite singers with you all. This seems to be a pretty important topic to include on any music blog, as anyone who actually is interested in what I have to say is going to want to know more about what music I enjoy the most and why. I want to delve into why they are my favorite singers and explain what is so unique about them that they deserve their spots on my list. Here goes!

1. *SPOILER ALERT!* Adam Friedman

Genre: Indie-Pop and/or Singer-Songwriter are the best fit, though he more or less said in one interview that that’s just a broad generalization of his sound rather than the themes of his music.

Fun Fact:  His birthday is 11/11, which is pretty cool. I want a mirror number/lucky number birthday like that.

Why He’s On My List: It is hard to pinpoint one single thing that I think is so awesome about Adam Friedman. He is talented, he has a great voice, and he is unique in a way that I think only indie singers can be. He is also ridiculously hilarious, as anyone who has followed his Instagram Story closely over the past few years will know all too well. I only wish he was still actively singing, but I’m grateful that his songs exist, even if there are only a few of them. Read my review of the no-longer-available EP, Green, to learn more about the special qualities that Adam Friedman music has. Also, if you haven’t heard “Glorious” (by Adam Friedman but featured in the film Rock Dog), you really need to! It’s one of the sweetest film songs of all time.

2. MIKA

Website: http://www.mikasounds.com

Genre: Most would say glam pop, but there’s a good mixture of regular pop, Britpop, and pop-rock in there, too—as well as French pop and Italian pop. There are even a few jazzy songs in his repertoire, which are pretty awesome.

Fun Fact: His full name is Michael Holbrook Penniman Jr., but MIKA (originally “Mica,” which was changed due to confusion with its pronunciation) has been his nickname since childhood. It also means “plastic bag” in Moroccan.

Why He’s On My List: I think MIKA is one of those performers that’s hard not to love. It’s nearly impossible to frown watching a MIKA performance. The Lebanese-British singer-songwriter has this happy, friendly energy that is completely infectious and, when combined with his sarcastic wit, is irresistible. Not to mention his story-rich, clever songs are one-of-a-kind and a complete joy to listen to. There’s something for every mood in his catalog. You can check out some of the best MIKA songs in my post on the topic. You can also learn about some lesser-known songs by MIKA in another one of my articles!

3. George Ezra

Website: https://www.georgeezra.com/

Genre: Folk-pop, soul, blues, and alternative rock are the best choices—if you can even tie down his sound to a genre.

Fun Fact: Many of his songs refer to his varied travels or his romantic relationships.

Why He’s On My List: The genres above speak to George Ezra’s uniqueness, but you have to listen to the soulfulness and complexity of the British singer-songwriter’s songs to truly appreciate his artistry. He also just has a down-to-earth vibe that makes him very likable. He has only released two studio albums so far, but I hope we get to see more of his talents in the future. You can also check out the latest George Ezra song and read my brief review of his last album, Staying at Tamara’s, for more info. on some of his greatest hits.

4. Julia Michaels

Genre: Singer-Songwriter and Pop describe her sound best.

Fun Fact: She has written hits for and with a large number of popular artists, including A R I Z O N A, Selena Gomez, and Maroon 5.

Why She’s On My List: Julia Michaels’ music is sweet with a bite, pairing raw, relatable lyrics with unique and catchy pop beats that fans—including me—can’t get enough of. Any woman who’s been hurt and confused by love and the many emotions of life can relate to Michaels’ edgy yet relatable tracks. Honorable Mentions: Melanie Martinez, Jack Savoretti, MARINA, Adam Levine, and Chase Goehring.
