I’m about to admit something that may make some people hate me: I really don’t like holiday music. Sure, I will listen to Frosty the Snowman if my niece requests it (or something like that), but I would never seek out most traditional holiday tunes. That being said, I do have a few less typical songs that are my favorites. I’d like to share them with you to spread my enthusiasm this holiday season. Here are my Top 5, in no particular order.
1. Last Christmas
This Wham! hit is one of my all-time favorite holiday tunes because it’s so atypical. A broken heart song about Christmas? I love it!
2. Wonderful Christmastime
Many of you probably know of this popular Paul McCartney tune, but it’s been a favorite of mine since I was young and holds a special, nostalgic place in my heart.
3. Don’t Need a Reindeer
If I’m honest, this off-the-beaten-path Moody Blues song. Just listen to it. I’m listening to it now and it’s actually still October!
4. Happy Xmas (War is Over) – Maroon 5 Cover
This song is great in general, but I love Maroon 5‘s take on it. Give it a listen!
5. Yes I Believe
This is another unique tune from the Moody Blues, and it’s very powerful. I hope it touches you like it touches me.
